Malakoff were appointed to design, build and commission an 8.0m x 3.0m landing craft for the Northwick Estate to serve on Loch Morar on the West Coast of Scotland.
The design was based on Malakoff’s standard range of ‘Voe Boat’ landing craft vessels. The client opted for a flat bottom hull form to maximise stability and ensure easy loading of equipment and livestock. The vessel was equipped with an open backed cuddy at the stern of the vessel.
Workscope & Specification:
Design of the vessel (based on Malakoff’s standard Voe Boat range).
Fabrication of the vessel in marine grade aluminium alloy.
Installation of propulsion system and electrical system.
Commissioning of vessel and sea trials.
Transport of the vessel to Loch Morar, including launch onto the loch.
8.0m length over all.
3.0m moulded breadth.
Bow door / ramp.
Open backed cuddy (aft).
Volvo Penta D3170 with Volvo Penta DPS Duoprop sterndrive unit.
Achieved 28Kts during Sea Trials (no ballast or load).
