In 2017 Malakoff was awarded the contract to build the new Kerrera Ferry by Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL). The ferry was designed by Alisdair Salmon as a landing craft, capable of carrying 1 car and 12 passengers. The vessel was constructed in a record time of 40 days and is now operated by Calmac Ferries Limited on the route linking Oban with the Island of Kerrera.
