WORK DESCRIPTION

Malakoff were appointed to design, build and commission the “Sullom Shearwater”, a 14m steel catamaran workboat for use with the Shetland Island Council – Marine Operations.

MORE DETAILS:

The workboat was designed, fabricated and built in our Lerwick yard before transport by road and successful launch at Sellaness, Shetland.

The work scope included:
  • Design, Fabricate and build Catamaran
  • Prepare and paint all steelwork with marine paint
  • Install propulsion system and electric system
  • Install deck crane and hydraulic system
  • Fit out crew areas and wheelhouse
Propulsion system details:
  • Two Cummins 6BTM5.9M marine engines 180hp derated to 155 hp at 2500 rpm c/w twin disc
  • Alternator Set 6.5 Kva diesel alternator Beta/Kubota 1500 rpm BD905L
  • 5050 gearboxes on with clutched PTO
  • Each engine supplied with Wet exhaust system, front stub power take off shaft, fuel/water separator filter, fixed engine mountings, morse lever controls and cables.
